Elizabeth Jones BSN, RN As a diabetes educator and director of Camp Little Shot I have seen a lot of changes in camp since I began working with it in the mid ‘80s. It has changed from an over night camp to a five day four night camp, which has helped us spend quality time with the campers. I can truly say that I have an incredible staff that helps me with our goals and visions on keeping the camp going.
My personal mission statement for our camp is to empower and educate the campers to deal with a life long disease, to build self esteem in each camper and teach them there a no limits in their lives simply because they have diabetes and last but not least have fun. With all the education, art and sporting events built into camp we reach each on of these goals, and that is why I can say that this is truly a unique camping experience for children living with diabetes.
